This study aims to explore the relationship between the general meaning of verse 69 of Surah Ankabut (“And those who strive in Us, We will guide them to Our paths”) and its interpretative-narrative reading in the Shiite exegetical tradition; a reading that applies the verse to the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) and the position of Imamate and Wilayat. The present study is organized with an analytical-comparative method and by using textual and contextual analysis and a network study of concepts in interpretative narrations. The findings indicate that in general interpretations, “jihad” has been explained as persistence in obedience and faith, and “our paths” have been explained as general paths of guidance, Sharia, and happiness; In the field of interpretation, in Shiite exegetical narrations, relying on expressions such as “It was revealed to us,” “This verse is for the family of Muhammad,” and “We are them,” the contents of the verse have been applied to the Ahl al-Bayt (a.s.) and their followers. Also, based on the conceptual distinction between “jihad in the way of Allah” and “jihad in us,” in a number of hadiths, “sublana” has been applied to the sacred personalities of the Imams (a.s.) and “al-Muhsinin” to the Commander of the Faithful (a.s.).
